DollyMo Yarns
Welcome to my blog dedicated to the DollyMo range of yarns.
There yarns were all spun and dyed here in the UK specifically with doll makers in mind. This blog is to show how I personally use the yarns but there are lots of other methods for making your dolls hair which I will cover later. I hope the following will be useful to you and please contact if I can help or advise in anyway. littleokedolls@waldorfdolls.co.uk or take a look at my website www.waldorfdolls.co.uk where you will find all these yarns for sale.
DollyMo Range:
1/ DollyMo Chunky Brushed Mohair (brushed is a term meaning the fibres are free and not laid flat on the binder)
The original mohair was produced from young Angora goats which had quite short fibres. This new variation uses adult Angora goat and has long fibres due to the age of the goat used. Due to the high pecentage of mohair it has a beautiful and natural lustre. 84% Mohair 9% Wool 9% Nylon Binder
This yarn is suitable for brushed out caps, tousled look cap, long and short haired syles.
2/ DollyMo Brushable Wool - as the name suggests this yarn has a high percentage of wool and lacks the shiny lustre of the mohair. A good yarn with long fibres and is suitable for brushed out caps but is not suitable for long haired dolls. 74% Wool 23% ohair 3% Nylon Binder
3/ DollyMo Large Loop Mohair, this yarn is wonderful for short and long haired dolls and will give a curly haired effetc to you dolls. A heavy weight yarn once again with a beautiful and natural lustre due to the mohair content. 90% Mohair 5% Wool 5% Nylond binder.
NOTE: a binder thread gives strength to yarns.

I will start with my favourite yarn which is the DollyMo Chunky Brushed; This yarn is available in 10 natural hair shades and also undyed.
Mohair takes dye well and is very easy to do but I will deal with this later.

| Crochet Loop Stitch Mohair Cap |
Basic Crochet Cap - You will aim to make a beanie/cup shape to fit your dolls head, this can finish where the ears of your doll might be/are or right on the edge of the face.I use a 3.25mm hook for bruched out and tousled effect caps and a 4.0mm hook for the looped stitch cap.
Tip - use some waste normal knitting yarn to practice.
Basic cap:
Start by making a slip sticth on your hook
1/ Make 8 chain stitches and slip stitch into the first chain to produce a ring
2/ Into this ring make 8 double crochet stitches (8 stitches)
