DollyMo Yarns Information

Welcome to my blog about  DollyMo yarns.  These yarns were spun and dyed here in the UK specifically for doll makers in mind.  They are 3 types of yarn, each yarn created for a different effect and styles for your doll making.  This blog is written to show how I personally use these yarns, hook sizes etc.  There are many other ways of making hair for your dolls and I will cover this later,

DollyMo Range:

1/ DollyMo Chunky Brushed Mohair (the word brushed is a term used to  mean that the fibres are free from the binder thread) This is a very versatile yarn and can be used for all variations of crochet caps/wigs.   Brushed out fibres, tousled look and for long/short haired styles.  Due to the mohair content it has a beautiful and natural lustre. 84% Mohair 9% Wool 9% Nylon Binder

2/ DollyMo Brushable Wool - This yarn was created specifically for brushing out styles and is not suitable for long hair on dolls, this yarn lacks lustre due to the large amount of wool 74% Wool 23% Mohair 3% Nylon Binder

3/ DollyMo Large Loop - This yarn was created and gives a curly effect to your dolls and is suitable for short and long hair styles, again due to the mohair content it has a beautiful and natural lustre.  A heavy weight yarn.  90% Mohair 5% Wool 5% Nylon Binder

I will deal with the DollyMo Chunky Brushed Mohair first, my favourite.  At present this yarn is available in 10 natural hair shades and also undyed.  Mohair is so easy to dye, but I will deal with this later.

This is a new version of DollyMo mohair, a replacement to the original mohair which was made using young Angora kid goat.  This new mohair using adult Angora goat is a very versatile yarn with long fibres. It is available in 10 natural hair shades and also undyed.
25g and 50g balls are available.
I use a 3.25mm hook for all the styles above BUT a smaller hook can be used.

As with most crochet caps your aim is to create a beanie/cup shape to fit on your dolls head, some end where the ears would be and some come to the very edge of the face.

1/ Start with a slip stitch on your hook
2/ Make a chain of about 6 - 8 and join together to form a ring.
3 /Into this ring make 8 double crochet stitches (8 stitches  made)
4/ Into the top of these stitches make 2 double crochet stitches (16 stitches
5/ Into the top of these stitches make 2 double crochet stitches (32 stitches made)

DollyMo Yarns

DollyMo Yarns

Welcome to my blog dedicated to the DollyMo range of yarns.
There yarns were all spun and dyed here in the UK specifically with doll makers in mind.  This blog is to show how I personally use the yarns but there are lots of other methods for making your dolls hair which I will cover later.  I hope the following will be useful to you and please contact if I can help or advise in anyway.  littleokedolls@waldorfdolls.co.uk or take a look at my website www.waldorfdolls.co.uk where you will find all these yarns for sale.

DollyMo Range:

1/  DollyMo Chunky Brushed Mohair (brushed is a term meaning the fibres are free and not laid flat on the binder)
The original mohair  was produced from young Angora goats which had quite short fibres.  This new variation uses adult Angora goat and has long fibres due to the age of the goat used.  Due to the high pecentage of mohair it has a beautiful and natural lustre.  84% Mohair 9% Wool 9% Nylon Binder
This yarn is suitable for brushed out caps, tousled look cap, long and short haired syles.

2/  DollyMo Brushable Wool - as the name suggests this yarn has a high percentage of wool and lacks the shiny lustre of the mohair.  A good yarn with long fibres and is suitable for brushed out caps but is not suitable for long haired dolls.  74% Wool 23% ohair 3% Nylon Binder

3/  DollyMo Large Loop Mohair, this yarn is wonderful for short and long haired dolls and will give a curly haired effetc to you dolls.  A heavy weight yarn once again with a beautiful and natural lustre due to the mohair content.  90% Mohair 5% Wool 5% Nylond binder.

NOTE:  a binder thread gives strength to yarns.

I will start with my favourite yarn which is the DollyMo Chunky Brushed;  This yarn is available in 10 natural hair shades and also undyed.
Mohair takes dye well and is very easy to do but I will deal with this later.
